Have you heard of Fire Cider? It is a homeopathic herbal concoction that is supposed to be good for all kinds of things like digestion, immune system support, sinus and allergy relief. I only recently even heard about it from following @whittfarm Instagram account. It is a herbal recipe with horseradish root, onion, garlic, oranges, lemons, turmeric, ginger, jalapeños, covered in apple cider vinegar and fermented for four weeks.
You chop up all the ingredients, put it all in a jar with a lid, sit it on the counter and shake it a couple times a day for four weeks. At the four week mark, you strain it, add some cayenne and some honey or syrup and maybe black pepper to activate the turmeric. You take a shot of it once a day or a couple times a day. More often if you are feeling puny or have a cold coming on.
I am a big fan of vinegar already and will drink it straight out of the bottle when I am feeling sassy. I bet this spicy vinegar will be a big hit with me! I will let you know in another three weeks or so! Anyone want to try some? I can make you a little mason jar full once it is done brewing!
Christmas decor is going up slowly but surely. I find that these days I just leave all the Christmas bins out in the garage with the lids off and I dig through them looking for things that I want to bring in the house. I take a million trips back and forth from the house to the garage carrying things in piece by piece. Not a very efficient way to unload bins, but I find it kind of relaxing to just do it slowly. Not sure why. I am scaling back a little on all the little knick knack things and just putting out the things I absolutely love. I am going to work on the mantle tonight. Putting those lights on always makes me so happy.
My plant list this for the week is off to a good start. I had some leftover breakfast pastry that I made over the weekend. It was a puff pastry piled high with vegetables like potatoes, onions, jalapeño, bell pepper, mushrooms, spinach, cilantro that I cooked in a pan for a few minutes. Put the cooked veggies on the thawed out pastry and covered them in the egg replacement called Just Eggs and sprinkled with sesame seeds for some good fiber points. I threw some arugula and tomatoes on the plate and it was a yummy and quick breakfast. It was an 11 plant breakfast, if you are counting!
I also had some of this leftover chopped salad today. I am actually not sure it is officially called a chopped salad - but hey, I chopped up a bunch of things and threw it in a bowl, so let's just leave it at that. I added a can of black beans, a jar of artichoke hearts, tomatoes, black olives, jalapeños, red onion, cilantro, and threw on some olive oil, vinegar and salt and pepper. I rolled it up in a tortilla for lunch over the weekend, but today I just ate it with a fork. Three more plants for the list.
I hope your week is off to a great start and you have a fresh plant list started! Let's get to 40!
