My Baby

As I promised yesterday, here are some pictures of my baby.  Again, I know he is not my baby - but I love him hard and call him my baby all the time. Chip is sick of it. 😄

This sweet little nugget came into the world in October and stole everyone hearts! His parents may not be too keen on me calling him my baby and I also think his Auntie Mal would leg wrestle me over him and his Nana would dang sure fight me over him!  But, it has been the sweetest thing to watch these kids become parents. And my sister-in-law Callie is as wonderful a Nana to Elvi as her momma was to my boys. The Nana gene runs strong in that family. I wish everyone one earth was able to feel Nana love...it is a force.

The highlight of my day is the darling pictures I get of this little fellow just living his best baby life. He is doing all the baby things, eating, sleeping, pooping, burping, crying on repeat, forever and ever. And now he is smiling and laughing and I am dead. I say "Awwwwww" out loud at every smile or laugh he flashes.  Every single time.

I am an absolute baby hog every time I am around him and the locals (his parents, Aunt and Nana) are so kind to let me. They let me feed him and hold him and change him and bond with him. I am so grateful.

Elvi's other grandma lives in Iceland and is just now getting her hands on him and I swear I could just weep for how happy it makes me that she finally is holding him. The dumb, stupid, awful, horrible Covid needs to get the heck out of here so international travel is easier! Elvi is going to love Iceland and all the family that loves him there! How lucky that he is loved all across the globe!

Now, I am trying to figure out how to YaYa him from Texas and it is challenging. I may need to install a satellite or get him on the Facebook Messenger so we can chat regularly when he is a little older.  (Install a satellite?  What does that even mean?  Who am I, Elon Musk? Would I even know what to do if a satellite was installed?) Lord, send the Geek Squad to my house to set me a up a direct line to Elvi so we can read books and play trains and sing the Itsy Bitsy Spider song together.

Y'all, I already know what I am going to buy him for his first AND second birthday!  He is just about to turn three months old! I got it bad for this kid.

I am crazy about all my nieces and nephews....but whew there is something powerful about a GREAT nephew. Babies that I have loved from the day they were born having babies of their own!  It is a whole circle of life thing. I think the older I get, the more precious life becomes and I understand all too well how fast time will pass.

I mean, look at these pictures and how fast these last few months have gone!  Enjoy the photos. This will not be the last you see of this sweet boy.

  1. Sweet, precious baby! Unfortunately, I wasn't able to spend much time with my 2 precious nieces when they were babies as they were world travelers. I did get to spend some time with a very handsome nephew who was a toddler. But, his Mom and Dad moved 11 3 kids to a place where the bear ruled the Tide. Eventually, they moved to the land of Oktoberfest and gummy bears. They liked some bears! Ya Ya, I love your hair!
