Bread Quest and Other Goals

Hello!  So happy to have a blank screen in front of me that I can fill up with words.  I have received a couple of texts and phones calls (hey, Mom and Dad) that my people are glad that I am writing and sharing again!  As it was with my old blog, readers adding their comments still seems to be a challenge.  I have tried to change a few settings and would appreciate it if you could try to comment on this post to see if I fixed anything.  Thanks!

I hopped out of bed this morning, went straight to the shower and then took the worst dog in the world on a long walk.  All before coffee!  It was a gorgeous morning for a walk.  Everything seems washed clean from the torrential rain we had yesterday and there is a bit of a damp chill in the early morning air.  Feels like the holidays.  Cooper found every single muddy patch of ground along the miles we covered and walked directly through them.  He was so happy.  That could have also been because he pooped six times.  Seriously.  I couldn't hardly manage the leash and all the poop baggies I was juggling.  Then we ran into his best chocolate lab friend, Tibi and they chased each other around the tennis courts for a bit.  So, he is now feeling calm, loaded with endorphins and camped out on the couch looking a tiny bit drunk.

In other news, I am on a quest for terrific dinner roll.  I want to make homemade rolls for Christmas dinner and I want them to be great!  I made my fourth batch of bread yesterday and I think they might be contenders for the best yet!   Any tried and true recipes you have that I should try?

Why is making bread so hard, do people really weigh rolls to make sure they are the same size before baking and how do you get the tops all to be nice and smooth?  So many questions!  I want to continue to pursue this dinner roll quest until I get something I can be confident will turn out great every time.  I hope my pants can keep up!

I will wrap up with a few goals I have for the new year.  I do a lot of these already, but I want to be consistent and purposeful in caring for myself, both in body and spirit.  Not because I need a smaller butt, but because I am happy to be alive and want to fuel my body and spirit with things that make them operate at their full potential.  What would you add?
  • Read the Bible and/or Jesus Calling everyday.
  • Drink a green juice everyday.
  • Eat vegetables with every meal.
  • Eat a vegan meal at least twice a week.
  • Go outside and feel the sun, wind, rain on my face every day.
  • Write regularly.
  • Get into counseling.
  • Have one amazing, beautiful, full fat, full sugar, delicious dessert the last day of every month.

Have a spectacular afternoon and thanks for reading!

  2. I'm guessing this is a reply to the Bread Quest and Goals blog.

So glad to receive a new blog so fast. Sorry I can't give any inputs on how to make yummy rolls that taste great and look good. Maybe the next time you are down at Gulf Shores you can get the recipe from that Thrown Rolls restaurant. Those taste pretty good.
On the other subject, what things help with both your body and spirit, I believe it takes a little of all 8 items you have listed. If it's like other things, it takes time and perseverance to reach what ever goal your after. This comes from someone who doesn't take his own advice, so your gambling on my suggestion.

Love you, and look forward to your next blog

    1. Yay, Dad! Your comment showed up and under the correct blog post! We are making progress here and I do love your input! Great idea on the Lambert's rolls. I will look for a recipe on-line and see how hard they are to make! Love you too!
